Welcome to Black Canyon Fire Department

Note from chief,

Welcome to Black Canyon City Fire Department’s website. Black Canyon City is located approximately 35 miles north of Phoenix, Arizona. Contrary to the name, the community of Black Canyon is not an incorporated city. It is an unincorporated area located in southern Yavapai County, in the shadow of the beautiful Bradshaw Mountains. The community has a population of approximately 3,000 which increases during the winter months.

The fire department was established in 1969 and was originally called "Canyon Community Volunteer Fire Department." In 1983 the department became a Fire District and the name was changed to Black Canyon Fire District. Throughout the years almost every resident of the community has participated in the department in one way or another. Because of this, many of the citizens take extreme pride in the fire department. The current organization has retained its sense of community through openness between the community and department, as well as numerous social events held throughout the year to bring citizens and department members together.

I am very proud of our members and those citizens and former members who came before us who have helped make this organization what it is today.

I hope you enjoy our site and if you're ever in the area or on your way to Phoenix, Prescott or Flagstaff, please stop by and see us! Please feel free to contact us. We'd love to hear from you!

Sincerely,
Chief Birch
