  • The Black Canyon Fire Department is a combination department comprised of seven full-time and thirty-two reserve firefighters.

It is our philosophy that whether you are a reserve or career firefighter the tasks to be completed are the same.  The Black Canyon Fire Department takes its responsibility toward public safety and providing professional services very seriously.

The department accepts applications year-round.  Since most of our applicants live in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, we believe it is important for all applicants to fully understand the travel distance it will take them to get to Black Canyon City.  Therefore, completed applications must be hand delivered to the department by the applicant.  Applications submitted by any other means will not be accepted.

Testing for reserve firefighter positions is typically held in January/February and August/September each year.  Full-time positions are typically filled from within our reserve firefighter ranks.
